@smperris: I use the word panties for female underwear. In fact, all the females I know in the USA do.
I sometimes make major faux pas using the word panties for my husband's underwear, which he quickly and firmly corrects me. "They are *not* panties but underwear."

it seems to be everyone's most hated word, but only when someone else mentions that it is their most hated word. I don't really care, myself.

Amused. Mostly because people on american sitcoms seem to hate it.

I'm more fond of pants than trousers.
I hear panties also bothers some people in a similar way that moist does.

My wife hates the word 'panties'. She claims no woman ever uses the word and it is some kind of strange male invention.
I can't stand the word 'discharge'. I have no explanation for it except for the fact that nothing good ever follows that word in a sentence.

I don't know that much of anything good comes before discharge, either.

Moist in reference to what? or just Moist as a word? The sound of the word itself?

@RickMeasham: actually, all females I know in Australia refuse to use the word "panties". They claim to wear knickers or underwear instead.

Moist: when it applies to cakes, brownies and other slices; I think it's a great word! I don't come across the word in many other contexts. ;)
